5th New York Zouaves vs. Confederate Texas Brigade Pt.1Alexander Jordan - 16Apr11 5:13AMOn the late-afternoon of August 30th, 1862, the third day of the Battle of Second Manassas, Confederate Gen. Longstreet launched his divisions/corps including the famous "Texas Brigade" in a "Hammer-like Blow" against the Union Army's left flank. The 5th NY Zouaves,stationed on the Union left flank, took the heaviest casualties of any Union Army Regiment during the entire Civil War in only 10 minutes of fighting on the final day of this battle.
